St Blazey 0, Penzance 3

The 10-man Magpies completed a hat-trick of victories over the Green and Blacks this season with a thoroughly deserved three points at Blaise Park, writes Nathan Richards.

The visitors, who beat Blazey away in the Throgmorton Cup and at home in the league, produced an awesome performance against all the odds.

They were missing county youth trio Richie Rundle, Mamsy Sabo and Bradley Wills, suspended Gregg Butcher and James miller was injured in the warm up,.

They were then reduced to 10 men after only half an hour when Jonny Ludlam was shown his second yellow card in a mad 10 minutes.

After a bright start from the home side, in which ex-Magpies duo Chris Reski and Sam Cooper, whose recent transfer sparked a war of words between the two sides' respective managers, went close, Penzance took a 12th minute lead when Ludlam's free-kick deflected in off former Blazey favourite Vercesi.

Ludlam forced a good save from Tom Blackler with another free-kick before he was dismissed.

But Penzance continued to press and when Lee Bradd hauled down Mark Hollands in added time, the full back picked himself up to curl a delightful free-kick over the wall and into the bottom right corner to make it 2-0 at half time.

Blazey boss Glynn Hooper switched to a 3-5-2 formation for second half, and the home side should've pulled one back on the hour when Chris Slateford volleyed over Reski's pinpoint cross.

Instead, it was Penzance who extended their lead on 64 minutes when lone striker Gerens James latched on to Darren ball's through ball and lobbed Butcher from an acute angle.

The Magpies needed a superb stop by Butcher to hold on to sub Danny Brooks's deflected strike, while Hollands and Holland came close to adding further goals for a patched up Penzance side oozing commitment and spirit.
