£20k grant will fund Trelya charity post
A GRANT of £20,000 will enable a West Cornwall charity which helps disadvantaged young people to employ a director.
Awarded to Trelya by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales, the new grant will allow the charity to continue to provide support to young people living in some of the most deprived estates of West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Sam Fitzpatrick, director at Trelya, said: “West Cornwall has many areas which suffer from social and economic deprivation.
“At Trelya we help young people who are dealing with a range of issues to address key areas of their lives and support them in becoming healthy, happy and productive members of their community.”

The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales provides funding for small and medium sized charities that help disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in their communities.
Trevor Smale, grant manager for Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, said: “In this unstable economic climate, charities face increased pressure on their income and with demand for services ever increasing this can have a profound effect on the survival of charities.
“At the Foundation, more than 75 per cent of our funding is awarded to much needed core costs allowing charities to focus on those who need their help most.”
Local or regional charities with an income up to £1 million and national charities with an income up to £5 million can find out more about the funding criteria and grant programmes at www.lloydstsbfoundations.org.uk
