COUNCIL chiefs have approved plans for a 17-acre solar farm at Tredinnick Fields, Luxulyan – despite evidence suggesting the site could host historical artefacts.
A report undertaken by AC Archaeology determined that the land was of overall "medium significance" for archaeological potential, which was not enough to halt the plans.
And residents fear that one of two further proposals in the area could be given the green light in the aftermath of the decision.
A proposed solar site at Bodiggo comprises 21.4 hectares (53 acres), covering six agricultural fields over an area equivalent to 26 football pitches.

In addition, an expanded version of the Bodiggo scheme at Tregarrick Farm is at the pre-application stage, which brings the proposed solar farm into closer proximity with the hamlets of Bodiggo and Cross, expanding the size of the site to 27.9 hectares (68 acres).
Commenting on Cornwall Council's planning website, local resident Roger Smith was stunned by the solar proposals.
He said: "The first plan, itself massive in scale, though not brought to the attention of locals or their elected representatives, was received with shock and opposition by residents and surprise by the parish council."
The boundaries of the second application creep onto land ascribed to the manor of Bodiggo in the Domesday Book.
"Localism clearly implies that the views of local people, and their wishes to protect their quality of life, should prevail when threats like this appear; let us hope that this scheme is withdrawn," added Mr Smith.
In their formative stages, the solar farm proposals already face more than 100 constraints, primarily due to its location being situated on renowned flood plains.
