IT WAS a special weekend when Ponsanooth marked 25 years of its annual fair day, taking inspiration from the past with a traditional-style event.

Organised by the Ponsanooth Playing Field Association, it has become a firm favourite in the village calendar.

Judy Tucker, from the association, said: "I think we had one of the biggest crowds, which was nice considering it was a milestone."

Adults and children enjoyed an Olympic-themed It's A Knockout competition and egg-throwing contest.

There were a large number of stalls, a dog show, raffle and barbecue run by local chef Dale McIntosh, of The Riverbank, Truro.

Mrs Tucker said: "It was a very successful afternoon."

The following day there was a sports afternoon, and families enjoyed picnics and a barbecue in the sunshine.

Mrs Tucker added: "I would like to thank the committee, but also the villagers who helped out."

The amount of money raised has yet to be finalised, but it will go towards general field maintenance and to help create a small pavilion and toilets.
