Simon Chadwick, 27, not guilty of sex assault on woman twice his age
A 27-YEAR-OLD man has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a woman twice his age at Looe.
Simon Chadwick, of George Place, Plymouth, went on trial at Truro Crown Court on Monday, accused of assaulting the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after a dinner party at her home on February 10.
The court previously heard that Chadwick, his girlfriend and the woman’s daughter had eaten at her house, that she had been drinking and had to be carried up to bed.
Adrian Chaplin, for the prosecution, said the woman recalled drinking whisky and wine but had no recollection of anything that happened after she was taken to bed.

Chadwick went upstairs to use the toilet and the woman’s daughter later followed, finding him in her mother’s bedroom, he said.
Chadwick initially gave a “no comment” interview, but in a second interview four months later, after the results of forensic tests, said the woman had consented to mutual masturbation.
Giving evidence during the trial, Chadwick said he had quite a big drink problem at the time and had gone to the woman’s house with two bottles of whiskey.
He said after he used the bathroom, he decided to see if the woman was okay.
He said: “I asked her if she was okay and then she invited me into her bedroom.
“She seemed a little tired and intoxicated but not slurring or anything like that.”
He said he went into the room and ended up on bed with the woman kissing her and that they touched each other’s genitals.
In a video interview played in court, the woman, who was in her late fifties, said she would not have consented to Chadwick touching her.
After retiring for four hours and 26 minutes, the jury returned a not guilty verdict.
