Admitted stealing from store
A WOMAN who went into Tesco at Pool intending to window shop had only £12 on her when she gave in to temptation and stole goods worth £215, Truro magistrates heard.
Claudette Olney, 40, of Mount Pleasant, Alverton, Penzance, pleaded guilty to stealing from Tesco, and also from Boots in Falmouth, when she took goods worth £150.
Alison May, for the prosecution, said that, when Olney was interviewed, she said she had gone to Tesco intending to go window shopping for Christmas presents and buy some food, but temptation came up.
She intended selling on some of what she took to support the heroin habit she had had for 20 years, but she had only been stealing to sell on goods to buy heroin for the past 18 months.
