The deadline for letters backing Plymouth's airport campaign has been pushed back by a week. By yesterday, 220 letters and 35 e-mails had landed on the desk of council leader Tudor Evans. Mr Evans launched the letter-writing campaign at a council debate last month. The debate was triggered by a save-the-airport petition organised by campaigners from the group Viable, who gathered almost 38,000 signatures. Mr Evans called for residents to write to Prime Minister David Cameron, urging him to intervene to protect the airport at Roborough.
