Entrants and winners of St Austell Bay Rotary Club's Annual Young Photographer competition. Front row: winning entrants: Katie Walker, Ellen Holmes, Ellie Cook, highly commended; Alice Eade, winner, and Ben Webley. Back row: Derek Godridge, Rotary district officer and event organiser; Mike Gill, youth opportunities officer, St Austell Bay Rotary; Dave Bridges, judge and president of St Austell Bay Rotary and Linda Fenner, judge.
The theme of the competition this year was community spirit with a portfolio of four images per entrant. Judging were experienced photographers Dave Bridges, who is also president of the club, Linda Fenner and local photojournalist Peter Glaser, all three being members of the Wadebridge Camera Club.
Mr Bridges commented on the high standard of entries, with each portfolio capturing the theme in various interesting ways.
Alice Eade from Mount Charles School, St Austell was announced the winner of the competition.
Her entry was taken on a recent present of a Fujifilm compact camera.
Judges said it captured the essence of community spirit on Boxing Day with a series of photographs of the annual sponsored dip in the sea by hardy folk raising funds for charity.
Her entry will now be entered into the Rotary Club's South West regional heat competition.
She is hoping it could then make it into the national final competition later in the year.
