Steve Boucher, SWAST head of operations for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, said: "We are delighted that our collaboration with Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service continues and this new initiative at Callington will enable the Trust to deploy resources from the fire station as part of our Status Plan.

Mr Boucher added: "Providing this facility will enable our staff to respond quickly and safely to save lives and will also build on the already excellent working relationship between both organisations and its staff."

Councillor Lance Kennedy, Cornwall Council portfolio holder for Community Safety and Public Protection, said: "This is a fantastic partnership and one which will have a positive impact on the local community."
