Angry neighbour prompts "hazardous" smoke investigation in Truro
AN angry neighbour has forced Cornwall Council to investigate smoke emitting from a business in Truro today.
Anthony Price photographed what he believes is "hazardous smoke" coming from the roof of the Fresh From Cornwall base in Newham, Truro.
Mr Price emailed a photograph of the smoke to West Briton and Cornwall Council.
In his email Mr Price says he fears for his health after inhaling smoke from the factory last night. He added that when he saw the smoke start up again this morning, he had to take action. He said: “This is a very serious health hazard.
“I have been driven out of my own home by chest pains and breathing difficulties as a direct result of this pollution and Cornwall Council's failure over many months to prevent this known health hazard.”
His email prompted an immediate response from the council who sent two officers to investigate the situation.
In response to Mr Price’s email, Rebecca Kirk, Assistant Head of Service - Community & Environmental Protection Public Health & Protection said: “There are a number of officers from this department working very hard to resolve this issue in a timely manner and I would like to reassure you that despite your allegations that this department is doing nothing that is simply not the case and has the highest priority.”
Sarah Newton, MP for Truro and Falmouth, is aware of the situation.
West Briton contacted Fresh From Cornwall but no-one was available to comment.
