Anna in fairyland
TRURO actress Anna Scutt pays the title role in a new production of the Gilbert and Sullivan 'fairy opera' Iolanthe now touring mid-Cornwall.
A concert version of the comic operetta is being staged by the Kenwin Barton Gilbert and Sullivan Singers at nine venues between now and October.
This is a fun-filled operetta – considered by many to be Gilbert and Sullivan's finest collaboration.
Appearing as the main characters with Anna are Geoff Pope from St Austell as her son Strephon – a fairy only down to his waist – Penny Platts as his mortal love interest Phyllis, Jo Alford Gretton as the Fairy Queen and Alan Russell as the Lord Chancellor.
