Appeal is boosted by £10,000 donation
AN ANONYMOUS donor has given £10,000 to the West Briton-backed campaign, Ella's Memory. The campaign has now raised more than £30,000 in just seven months.
The charity was launched by Martyn and Emmillie Selley, from Newbridge in Truro, after their second child was stillborn last December.
The couple have a son, Max, and are expecting their third child in February.
Many individuals and organisations have backed the campaign, which aims to overhaul facilities in a room at the Royal Cornwall Hospital set up to help bereft parents come to terms with their loss.
Speaking after Ella's Dinner and Auction in St Ives, on Friday, which raised £4,500, Mr Selley said they had been overwhelmed by the donation.
He said: "A woman who lives locally and has been through similar circumstances decided to give us the cash.
"It is wonderful and adds to the thousands already raised thanks to the continuing support of many people."
The couple are forging ahead with plans to add a new bathroom suite, sofa-bed, printing equipment and memory boxes to the Daisy Suite. They want to meet nurses and officials to see if they can help further.
"We want the charity to provide practical support. We don't want the hospital to lose interest once the Daisy Suite has been improved," added Mr Selley.
"The fact that so many people have got behind us is an indication that it is an issue that is close to people's hearts."
