Appeal for help for those with hearing aids
A charity project is urgently appealing for volunteers to help provide vital help to hearing aid users.
Action on Hearing Loss runs "Hear to Help" in partnership with the audiology department at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust. It trains volunteers to show people how to get the best performance from their NHS hearing aids, so that they can hear more clearly.
When fully trained, volunteers carry out basic maintenance on hearing aids, such as replacing tubing and batteries, and provide information on equipment and support which can improve the everyday lives of people with hearing loss.
Senior community support officer Karen Squire said: "We're urgently looking for new volunteers from east Cornwall, including those who have hearing loss themselves, to come forward to support our regular Hear to Help community drop-in sessions.
