Area 26 to host dressage qualifiers at Chiverton Riding School
AREA 26 (Cornwall) of the National Pony Society (NPS) have two exciting events planned for this month.
They will be hosting NPS Dressage qualifiers at the event on Saturday, which will take place at Chiverton Riding School and a full schedule with tests from Intro to Novice is available.
The classes are open to all for those with native and non-native ponies and are a great opportunity to pick up qualification for the NPS Dressage championships, which will take place on April 13 at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire.
With several Cornish riders already qualified, they will be looking to repeat their 2013 success, where they were second out of 28 teams in the Prelim test section and third out of 16 in the Novice test section.

Team manager Jane Hoskin, who helped the team to success last year, has been strongly promoting the qualifiers and is hoping to send more than one team to the finals this year.
She said: "As a trainer, I feel it is a great competition, especially for the native breeds and part-bred ponies that get to compete in their own right."
Jane will be giving training clinics for those who want to attend the championships and has also organised one with respected trainer Mary McGinley on March 22 at Tall Trees, which will give those who have qualified a chance to practice their dressage tests for the championships.
Jane added: "We are also on the lookout for sponsors to help those qualified look professional as a team – I think it would be really lovely if everyone who has qualified has a matching jacket or gilet."
Anyone who is interested in sponsoring is asked to ring Jane on 01208 831632.
NPS Area 26 have also organised another dressage event on Sunday March 16 at Polean, Pelynt and more details can be obtained from organiser Lucy Booth on 01208 821388.
Members of NPS Area 26 will also be able to benefit from a showing clinic on Saturday February 15 at Tall Trees Arena, Davidstow, with showing supremo Mathew Lawrence. Mathew is a prolific producer in the South West with supremes at the Horse Of The Year Show (HOYS) and Olympia Horse Show. His experience varies from native ponies to hunters and hacks.
Marie Richards, who has organised the clinic, which is already full, said: "Mathew will be giving seven one-hour training sessions ranging from lead rein ponies to hunters and cobs.
"It's very exciting to have him here and we welcome anyone who wants to come and watch.
"A member of the NPS committee will be there to answer any questions about joining as a member and what we can offer as an area. I am hoping to organise another one in the near future."
The British Show Pony Society (BSPS) Area 13a (Cornwall) will be holding the first show of the season on Sunday February 16 at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland.
There will be a full schedule catering for show and show hunter ponies, working hunter ponies and Mountain and Moorland ponies.
The full schedule can be found on the website and is open to both member and non-members.
Show secretary Lucy Bowden can be contacted 01209 212159 and pre-entries will be taken until next Monday, February 10, and you are able to enter on the day.
