Arthritis fails to put a stop to reverend's Solent charity swim
COAD's Green Methodist Minister the Reverend Eleanor Reddington is to take part in the Aspire Cross Solent Charity Swim challenge on Saturday.
Aspire provides support for people with spinal injuries and Eleanor hopes to raise £1,500 for the charity by swimming from the mainland to Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
The Reverend Reddington said: "It's estimated that the swim will take about two hours, so I've been training hard to make sure I'm fit enough by doing 5k swims in the local swimming pool and in the sea."
Eleanor is no stranger to injury. In 1977 and again in 1981 she was involved in a car accident, which left her with permanent neck and back damage.

Arthritis has set in but she pushes this aside, saying: "If you're going to do something, you have to do it properly. I always hoped my surgical collar would set a new trend in clerical collars, but it's yet to catch on."
