Artist Cosmic paints mural at Falmouth Marine School
THE courtyard at Falmouth Marine School has been transformed with the help of local artist Cosmic.
He has created a huge mural depicting the college from the students' point of view, with help from some of them. The image, featuring a humpback whale, turtle and puffer fish, takes inspiration from Hokusai's Great Wave Off Kanagawa print.
Cosmic said: "There were some great ideas, but when someone mentioned the humpback whale was their favourite it sparked a whole round of unanimous approval.
"The same happened when someone mentioned Hokusai's print. Those two images were high on the list.

Important
"The students are studying boatbuilding, marine biology, water sports and marine engineering, so it was important to ensure all areas were represented."
The turtle is based on college caretaker Peter Mitchell and the puffer fish on his namesake, Pete Junior, who lives in a tank in the college.
Student Chloe Burrin said: "Pete is the backbone of the college and someone we all see every day.
"We wanted to show him how much we appreciate him so Cosmic suggested we painted him holding up the boat as he does the marine school."
The mural is just one of the improvements at the college which students asked for.
