Olympic diving silver medallist Pete Waterfield and Paralympics wheelchair basketball athlete Judith Hamer yesterday helped 2,500 Exeter schoolchildren to "stage their own games".

The pair joined pupils from eight schools across Devon at St Luke's Science and Sport College in Exeter for a day inspired by London 2012.

Activities included opening and closing ceremonies, mascot design competitions, as well as basketball, athletics and hockey.

An inter-school torch relay was also staged with the help of local torchbearer Adrian Nash.
