Attacks against two females may be linked
Police say two separate assaults on women in Bideford between 12.30am and 1.30am on New Year's Day may be linked. In the first, a 17-year-old managed to push away her attacker on The Quay. In the second, a 65-year-old walking along Station Hill sustained minor injuries after being hit from behind and then again while on the floor. A police spokesman said that people were in the area on both occasions and urged witnesses to come forward: "Both attacks were totally unprovoked and due to the festivities at that time many people would have been around," he said.
