The Cornishman

FOLLOWING a sell-out tour of Cornwall in 2008, BishBashBosh Productions is back with a national tour of Alan M Kent's award-winning play, The Tin Violin.

The true story of Guinean slave Joseph Emidy, who made his way from Africa to Cornwall in the early 19th century and became a famous violinist and composer, the play is a thoughtful and moving exploration of creative and cultural identity in a world much larger than ours today.

Winner of the 2009 Hoyler An Gof award for best drama, the show also features music from the People's String Foundation and choreography by Cscape Dance Company – two successful Cornish groups.

A play rich with dialect, dance and decadence, The Tin Violin is on at Penlee Park Theatre, Penzance, on Monday at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at www.crbo.co.uk/ 01726 879500.
