General secretary of the competition Simon Hollywood said: "It went really well, we were blessed with the weather.

"We had a couple of dry days in the week that dried the ground out and made near-perfect conditions.

"It was an enjoyable day for everybody and the pedigree was very good."

Mr Hollywood added that the 16 entrants in the novice category showed promise for the future of the competition.
