Big screen race night coming to Lostwithiel

Race night is coming to Lostwithiel Community Centre as the Rotary Club attempt to raise funds for a number of their charities.

The big screen horse and dog racing event will take place on Saturday, February 16.

Expectations are high for what will be the inaugural race night for Lostwithiel Rotary Club with the eventual profits to be distributed between community groups and charities in the area.

In events past, the Rotarians have raised funds for such groups as, Brownies, Lostwithiel Pre-School, Cornwall Air Ambulance and many more.

On the big night there will be 10 races in total with a break at the half-way point.

All the action will be compered and has been sponsored by local businesses.

Entry to the event is free, doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. A bar and café will be open for refreshments, toasting winners and drowning sorrows in equal measure.

Rotarian, Paul Harrold, said: "Race nights are really popular and people get just as excited as if they were watching the race live. The whole family can come along and enjoy a really good fun night out."
