The Regal theatre is now the second biggest in Cornwall.
Following staggered openings of the new screens and facilities since last November, the full offering of the art deco town centre landmark can now be seen in all its glory across six screens, from the cosy, 50-seater, licensed rooms with armchairs and sofas, to the 650-capacity auditorium which doubles as a live theatre.
This final stage of the five-year overhaul includes the refurbishment of five of the screens and the theatre to include circle, stalls and box seats.
“It was such a tall building it was just a waste of space and energy,” said Craig May, marketing and catering manager for Merlin Cinemas.
“The theatre used to be on one level with a really high roof.
“Now we have split the room so we can fit in two more screens underneath where the circle is.”
He added that Regal Redruth will rival Merlin’s former flagship cinema in Falmouth, as it is expected to attract 200,000 people per year.
Tickets are now on sale from the cinema box office for the gala evening on SundayJuly 21.
