Birds of a feather at gallery
GALLERY 49 in the High Street, Falmouth is currently exhibiting a colourful display of nest box designs by Launceston-based artist Jo Salter.
Jo is a painter who also works as a graphic designer and environmental artist. Her nest box design schemas were originally conceived by the artist/poet Alec Finlay for a project commissioned by the Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool in 2008. The collaboration resulted in a book, Specimen Colony, and exhibition, followed by the permanent display of the boxes in the trees surrounding the gallery.

The birds' colour schemes were taken from images on postage stamps. Many of these birds are symbols of national identity, as well as representing ideas about communication, long-distance travel, migration and diversity.
The gallery is open Monday to Saturday (not Wednesday), from 12.30pm to 5.30pm. Ring 07729 394759 for further details.
