Blessed are the cheesemakers - Truro's Yarg scoops top awards
LYNHER Dairies, the makers of Cornish Yarg cheese, are having quite a week.
Days after having won Best English Cheese at the prestigious British Cheese Awards, they have now been voted the UK’s favourite local producer in one of the food industry’s top national awards.
Catherine and Ben Mead, owners of Lynher Dairies near Truro, were up against some of Britain’s best flavours for the prestigious Great Taste Favourite Local Producer title, and they beat off more than 900 other cheeses in the British Cheese Awards.
The Meads live, farm and make their cheese at Pengreep, which has been the family home for 300 years.
