The Cornishman

A FISHING boat had to be towed to safety after a net snarled up in its propeller off the coast of west Cornwall.

The 30ft vessel was left without electricity after its trawl became wrapped around the prop at around 10.30am on Sunday.

With no power, the crew of three called for assistance by mobile phone and the Penlee inshore lifeboat was dispatched.

But the size of the boat, coupled with the strong winds made it impossible for the RIB to tow the stricken vessel back to Newlyn.
