THE BODY of a Newlyn fisherman who went missing last month has been recovered from the harbour.

Gary Roberts' body was found in front of the fish market on Friday after he disappeared on his birthday.

The 53-year-old, from Penzance, had returned from the sea on March 12 to celebrate at the Swordfish pub.

Police believed he had decided to head to the harbour rather than take a taxi home, but he failed to pick up his money following his last fishing trip.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious and his next of kin have been informed.
