BOSCASTLE is looking forward to its most ambitious programme ever, as it prepares for the start of its annual festival next month.

The huge programme of events covers everything from walking, eating and history to art, poetry and boats.

The BosFest 2010 programme kicks off on April 19 with the launch of walking week.

Now in its third year, the festival curtain-raiser promises a wider selection of walks than ever before. There will be short, long, easy and tough ones to cater for all levels of fitness.

Organiser Denise Tillinghurst says that they have worked hard to add to, and improve, the already comprehensive list of walks, boat trips, sketch sessions, meals and other special events.

She said: "With walking being one of Britain's most popular outdoor pastimes, we're able to tap into that interest and we're delighted to give visitors, and sometimes locals as well, the opportunity to enjoy and learn more about this outstanding area."

As well as circular walks for all abilities in and around Boscastle itself, there will be opportunities to enjoy more strenuous walks around neighbouring villages like Tintagel, Crackington Haven and Port Isaac.

This year there will also be a chance to learn more about a Victorian murder mystery on Bodmin Moor when a young girl, Charlotte Dymond, was found murdered near Roughtor in 1844.

Literature lovers will be catered for with a walk in the footsteps of Thomas Hardy, while there will also be church trails, canal walks, boat trips, nature watches, folk singing and star gazing.

Denise said: "It's the most ambitious programme yet."
