Bowls: Grampound honour Ron Hicks for 50 years' service
MEMBERS of the Grampound Bowling Club sat down to their End of Season meal held in the club pavilion.
Following an excellent meal prepared by the ladies, club chairman Norman Way took the floor to make a presentation to the club's president, Ron Hicks, to mark his 50th year of bowling.
Ron first joined Grampound Bowling Club in 1956 and played until 1961 when he diverted his energies into playing football.
However, five years later he re-joined the bowling club and in 1973 the purchase of a new Suffolk Punch 18" Mower encouraged him to become the green keeper, a role he held for 33 years.

Ron concluded by saying that he was proud to hold his current position of president for the Grampound Bowling Club and he extended his thanks to all club members for their help over the years.
FOOTBALL: It was a day for the away teams to forget in the Cornwall Sunday Football League as they all crashed to defeat without scoring.
Despite losing for the fifth game in a row St Kew Highway can build on their 6-0 defeat at the hands of Champions Luxulyan at a ground where few clubs will come away with any points this season.
St Breward bounced back from consecutive defeats to win 1-0 at home to Bodmin. With Lostwithiel not playing the result means St Breward leap frog them into third.
The Par Running Track derby was a one sided contest as the home team for the fixture Carlyon Arms thumped Packhorse 8-0. With the teams below them losing or not playing Packhorse remain fifth.
