FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue of a teenager who was trapped under a car in Bude last night.

Two crews from the town were called just before 8.15pm to The Triangle, Lansdown Close where the boy had become trapped underneath a vehicle.

Firefighters used jacking equipment to lift the car off the teenager and he was then taken to hospital by a waiting ambulance for treatment.

It was one of several incidents for firefighters across Cornwall over the last 24 hours.

In the early hours of this morning (Sun) firefighters from Redruth and Camborne were called to Murdoch Close in Redruth following reports of a house fire.

A small fire had broken out in a bedroom of the house at around 1.15am.

The fire was out by the time firefighters arrived and the householders had been able to get out safely thanks to being warned by a smoke alarm.

Fire crews were also called to Gilberts Coombe in Redruth yesterday at around 11.15am after rubbish was found burning inside a building. A hosereel was used to extinguish the blaze which is believed to have been arson. Police are investigating.

Two fire crews from Redruth were called to a road accident in New Portreath Road at around 8.50pm last night to help release a woman who was trapped.

Assisted by the rescue tender from Camborne the firefighters used crash rescue equipment to free the woman from her car. They then made the scene of the accident safe.

Fire crews from Helston and Camborne were called to a house in Breage to put out a chimney fire just after 11pm last night. The fire was extinguished within 40 minutes.

One crew from Bodmin was called to a car fire in Robartes Road in the town at around 9.40pm last night. Hosereels and breathing apparatus were used as firefighters put out the blaze.
