Brilliant medals haul from starlets
ONLY 11 Wadebridge swimmers entered the Carn Brea Winter Open Meet at Penzance on Saturday – but their medal haul of 31 out of the 55 events entered was worthy of a much bigger squad.
The youngest team member was Nisa Bowden Inoue, who won a gold on 200 individual medley (IM) where she swam 50 metres on each stroke. She then went on to take two silver medals in the 50 metres and 200 metres breaststroke events.
Ellie Chown, 14, showed her strength in the freestyle events winning gold on the 50, 100 and 200 metre events. She also came second in 200 metres IM and 100 breaststroke and third in 50 metres breast stroke.
Jo Temple bought home the same medal tally as Ellie, but came first in 200 IM, 100 and 200 metres breaststroke events, second in 50 breaststroke and 100 metres butterfly and third in 50 metres freestyle.
Eleven-year-old Jazz Harbour was the busiest swimmer of the Wadebridge squad as she had entered eight events.
She won the 50 metres butterfly and 200 metres freestyle, collected silver in the 50m freestyle and 100 metres IM, and bronze in the 400 metres freestyle and 100 metres butterfly.
Also 11 years old, middle distance swimmer Lani House won a gold, silver and bronze for 400 IM, 200 butterfly and 200 metres IM respectively.
