Bronze sculpture stolen from gallery
Police are hunting a thief who entered an art gallery and picked up a £3,400 bronze sculpture before walking out with it.
Kaimos Creature (2007), an abstract sculpture, was on display on a plinth in Porthminster Gallery in St Ives in Cornwall. The piece, which is 10in tall and 25in long, was stolen from the gallery on August 9 between 10am and 11am. Police say the offender entered the gallery, picked up the sculpture and walked out with it. PC Jon Dash, based at Penzance, said: "This sculpture was taken in broad daylight and the person would have had to walk it through the street to waiting transport. They would have had to be fairly strong to carry the sculpture on their own."
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the force.
