Building wows art and design students
STUDENTS entered the new art and design building at Truro College as they began the academic year, enjoying the accommodation and facilities in the White Building, completed earlier this month.
David Walrond, principal of Truro and Penwith College commented: "We knew it was a very exciting design, and the finished White Building is every bit as stunning an environment in reality as we had hoped and planned.

"A very busy summer extending our science areas and laboratories into the space freed up by the new art facilities has also allowed us to welcome a record number of science A level, IB and vocational students joining us from across Cornwall this term."
The new art construction has large teaching studio spaces with double aspect windows, an atrium on the ground floor, ceramics and kiln rooms, textiles, graphics and photography dark rooms, mac suites, display spaces and a large gallery space.
The £10 million college-funded project involved the construction of two buildings on an existing rugby pitch adjacent to the site and the creation of a new replacement pitch at nearby Polstein Farm.
Midas Construction, who won the building contract managed by Capita Symons, have been working to the designs of architects Poynton, Bradbury, Wynter, Cole.
