Burglar used bike to escape scene

POLICE in Bude are appealing for witnesses following a raid on a home by a burglar on a bike.

The incident happened at a property in Penny Lane, Bude at around 3.10pm on Monday, January 14.

Entry to the premises was gained by smashing a double-glazed window with a hammer.

Once inside the offender carried out an untidy search and stole an expensive ring and a quantity of cash.

The ring is an 18-carat white gold five-stone diamond ring with a foreign hallmark.

The offender was seen to ride off on a pedal cycle and is described as being a white man in his twenties, about six feet in height, slight build and wearing jeans and a beanie hat.
