A BIG red bus has made some unusual stops in Cornwall.

Instead of dropping off passengers, the Tax Justice Bus Tour saw Christian Aid and Church Action on Poverty call for the end to tax-dodging at home and abroad.

Members met the chairman of the methodist district, the Reverend Steve Wild, at Truro Methodist Church and Falmouth mayor Geoffrey Evans on Events Square, Falmouth.

They joined local supporters and church leaders to learn about a campaign to call for a fairer global tax system which would benefit people in Cornwall as well as overseas.

“Instead of freezing wages, throwing thousands into redundancy and reducing the welfare bill all this money and more could be saved if the rich were made - made not asked - to pay their fair share. Pop stars and footballers with salaries that resemble telephone numbers and not forgetting the financial sector who got us in this mess should cough up more. As for those "celebrities" (Lewis Hamilton and Sean Connery for two) who say they are proud to be British and don't pay a penny towards the Treasury should have their British passports cancelled. You would see then how proud they were to be British as long as they get their money the loss of the passport would mean nothing.”
