The Fal River bus was taken from Newham and the theft was only discovered when the driver turned up this morning.
The 22-seater bus was used on the city service around Truro.
Tim Light, managing director of Cornwall Ferries Ltd and the King Harry Ferry stepped in to provide a bus service when First South West abandoned the service last month.
Mr Light said the bus belonged to a member of staff who had loaned the vehicle to get the service going.
The bus is a single-decker, blue and cream bus.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 101.
