Richard Wilcox, manager of the Falmouth BID, answered questions from business ratepayers who are being asked to vote on the Camborne BID.
The BID in Falmouth, which is only half way through its five-year term, has achieved an increase in footfall in the town, produced cost savings for businesses on advertising and promotion and gained new shop tenants by visually improving empty properties.
"All this could be done for Camborne and by setting clear standards for base-line services, you can keep the council on its toes too," said Mr Wilcox.
Cost savings, improving the appearance of the town, access and signage projects and lobbying for such measures as parking are the priorities for the Camborne BID.
George Le Hunte, chairman of the BID steering group, said: "Falmouth BID was able to raise the profile of the town and increase its footfall. That's what we want to do for Camborne. Businesses themselves will be in control of how their contributions are spent."
Voting for Camborne BID closes at 5pm on March 1.
