Buyer saves Treasure Trails Ltd in Truro from certain closure
AN AWARD-winning Truro company that creates treasure maps across the UK has been saved from closure thanks to a local businessman.
Treasure Trails, based on High Cross in Truro city centre, create self-guided maps across regions of the UK.
The company fell into financial difficulty last year and would have been forced to close altogether if a buyer was not found.
Aaron Hutchens general manager at Treasure Trails Ltd said: “We had fallen into financial difficulty but now it seems the business has a bright, viable future.”

Local businessman Phil Allatt bought the assets to the company earlier this year.
Although based in Truro the company has franchisees all over the country.
They were offered a new opportunity with a Partnership Agreement with the new organisation.
Mr Hutchens says the company has a business plan and hopes to maintain the company’s popularity throughout the UK. He said: “We create new and exciting ways for you to get outside and explore.
“We currently have 1,100 trails across the UK that are family friendly and take in the sites of a local region, while either trying to solve the riddles of the maps or locate an area’s hidden treasure.”
The treasure trail through Truro focuses on the story of Richard Lander, who with his dying breath, whispered the location of his riches to his brother. Using the map, families are invited to solve the mystery of where the buried treasure lies.
The company was presented with the tourism business of the year award at the Costswolds Tourism Awards last year.
