Caleb was involved in a collision with a silver Audi at around 8.40am on Friday at Loggans Road in Hayle at its junction with Loggans Way.
He was airlifted to Treliske but then transferred to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital where mum Dawn Chapman was a constant presence at his bedside.
Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed they are now carrying out a fatal incident collision and are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them on 101 and quote log 142 of 7/12/12.
A police spokesman said they have not made any arrests in relation to the incident.
He said a post mortem is expected to be carried out on Tuesday.
