Calls for inquiry into building blacklisting
Calls for a Leveson-style inquiry into blacklisting have been stepped up after claims that police gathered evidence on trade union activists and passed information to an agency working for building firms. A group campaigning on behalf of workers whose names were on a list said there was now a "mountain of evidence" that the police and security forces had spied on union members. The blacklist, containing more than 3,000 names, was drawn up by the Consulting Association, which was closed down after a raid by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
