Camborne, Pool and Redruth east west link road approved

CAMBORNE, Pool and Redruth east-west link road has been given the final go-ahead today.

The Department for Transport has authorised Cornwall Council to construct the new highway to run from Wilson Way to Dolcoath Road.

The council has also been authorised to use Compulsory Purchase Order needed to build the link.

Camborne, Redruth and Hayle MP George Eustice said: "This final go-ahead is fantastic news for the Camborne, Redruth area and will unlock the potential for thousands of jobs and new businesses to be created in the coming decade."

A public inquiry took place at the Penventon Park Hotel, Redruth, in June.

The road has been described by some local councillors as a "rat run" to be used by people travelling between Camborne and Redruth.
