CKFM (Cornwall Kernow Freestyle Martial-Arts) held a grading of the students from Hayle community school, its primary feeder schools and ex-Hayle pupils who have moved into further and higher education.
The event was not only for the students to gauge their own individual progress, but was to build friendships across age groups.
Everyone who participated in the event exceeded their own expectations. One or two individuals performed so well due primarily to their individual determination, they were allowed to attempt a higher grading. Considering that the final part of this grading was over two hours, they excelled and met the higher belt criteria.
CKFM is proud of all of its students and the effort they apply to this their chosen sport. With their continual dedication and positive manner, they have shown themselves what hard-work can achieve, and as an instructor you cannot ask for anything more.
CKFM holds classes in Sport Karate Kickboxing every Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm, Dynamic Self-defence from 6.45pm and on Saturdays offer a martial fitness which incorporates the best of both, which starts at 1pm and lasts for two hours.
If you are interested in any of the classes, want to have a go or talk about what specific programs the CKFM can offer you, contact Shaun Taylor on 07526 770274 or email shaun.taylor@cornwallkfm.co.uk.
So if you're up for getting a little or even a lot fitter, want to lose a few extra pounds, make friends or want to compete in sport martial art events, come along and have a go.
As well as the programmess listed above, CKFM also have after-school sessions specifically for the pupils of Hayle Community School from 3.15pm to 4.45pm investigating sport martial art techniques and sparring. They also offer primary feeder schools a self-development programme which from 5pm, this class is open to pupils from both year 5 & 6, which uses martial arts as a basis to build confidence, awareness, self-control and at the same time to have a little fun.

UNITED EASE TO WIN:
Troon Res 0 Redruth Utd 3
Redruth earned a confident three points away to the higher placed Troon side. The visitors kept out the young Troon attack with the Adams brothers excelling in their newly formed centre back partnership.
At the break it was 1-0 to Redruth with a James Chillman shot deflecting into the net.
After a firm corner by Kevin Mitchell, the diminutive Dale Adams headed powerfully into the net.
A couple of chances were missed from Chillman but a move started by man of the match Martin Adams ended with Zac Arundel-Lethbridge scoring yet again from a deflected shot to ease United up the league table.

REDS HELD TO DRAW:
Newquay U10s 15 Redruth U10s 15
Redruth travelled up to Newquay last weekend for a re-arranged fixture.
Newquay were quite quick and strong and sometimes Redruth lost out by a few simple mistakes, also at times found to be a little lethargic which Newquay took advantage off. Redruth had some great determination and put some fantastic tackles in and were also very strong in the scrums. Redruth got down deep in their opposition's half and retained the ball from a ruck, and quickly picked up by Lewis Wills who crossed the line for a try in the tenth minute.
At half-time Newquay went in a try up. Second half got under way and was again very tight between the two sides when in the 21st minute Sam Hicks scored to equalise, but a few minutes later Newquay ran through a missed tackle from the Reds to score again.
A couple of phases in from the restart came a move along the backs and into the hands of Samuel Churchill who crossed the line in the 27th minute.
There was still time for either side to triumph when a penalty came against Redruth very deep in their own half, which Newquay took and had charged towards the Redruth's line only to be stopped with a try saving tackle from Tom Morrison. A couple of phases later the final whistle blew and it ended with three tries apiece.
Squad & Tries: Jago Ford, Adam Hall, Samuel Churchill (1), Tom Morrison, Lewis Wills (1), Kieran Daughtery, Sam Hicks (1), Bailey Berriman, James Curnow, Subs: Jouan Rowe, Kian Hocking, Dominic Tresidder, Callum Grohmann, David Gardner.
Newquay U10s 10 Redruth U10s 25
In the second match Redruth had the pressure on their opposition's try line when the ball came loose and saw Callum Grohmann drop to the floor to ground the ball for a try in the fifth minute.
In the seventh minute Newquay were drawn in just as a pass went out to Samuel Churchill which left him open for him to cross the line for his try. Redruth seemed to be in the flow of things as Jouan Rowe found his feet and scored his try in the ninth minute, to put them 3-0 up at half-time.
In the second half Newquay turned it on and with a couple of changes saw them crossing the try line, this gave them confidence and they scored again. They wanted revenge and seemed to be going for it, but the Reds dug in and pushed on and a pass out to Dominic Tresidder was scored in the 25th minute. Both teams gave it their all and played a cracking game and to wrap the match up Lewis Wills scored in the 29th minute.
Squad, Subs & Tries: Dominic Tresidder (1), Jacob Ozer, Kieran Trevena, David Gardner, Harrison Fraser, Callum Grohmann (1), Jouan Rowe (1), Adam Hall, Samuel Churchill (1), Lewis Wills (1), Jago Ford, Bailey Berriman.
HAYLE RFC MINI JUNIORS:
Redruth 5, Hayle U10s A 0
Hayle initially looked lethargic against an organised Redruth side and went down 5-0 early on.
The visitors fought back and showed great resilience in the testing conditions and came close to scoring in the second half through a strong run by Bardon Lees but he was judged to have dropped the ball going over the line. Redruth have improved greatly over the last year and credit to them for breaking Hayle A's 18-month unbeaten record.
Player of the match: Harry Hocking; Tackler of match: Matthew Nankervis.
Redruth U10s B 5, Hayle U10s B 5
A very hard fought game from both sides with Redruth starting the stronger and encouraged by a previous 45-0 win when these two sides met earlier this season.
Redruth scored a try midway through the first half but Hayle showed they had improved greatly since the previous outing.
In the second half Hayle came out positively and from an early penalty made ground with a fantastic 30 yard run from Gareth Bowden who grounded the ball to draw the game.
Players of the match: Jake Whitford and Harley Perry. Tackler of the match: Billy Baker

COBRAS HIT SIX:
Trevenson U12s Cobras 6 St Agnes Under 12s 2
On a cold and crisp morning the Cobras faced a very enthusiastic St Agnes side.
The Cobras attacked from the off and some good inter passing from Adam Webber and Torin Beckerleg ensured they took early control of the midfield.
Further pressure told on St Agnes and soon the Cobras were 1-0 up with a well taken goal from Adam Webber.
They quickly made it 2-0 with an excellent goal from man of the match Matty Collins.
St Agnes to their credit were playing some good football and if it were not for some resolute defending from Ben Penna and Morgan Carveth then they could have made it more difficult for the Cobras.
Half-time was looming when another good break left Henry Dagger to burst through to make it 3-0 at half-time.
The second half kicked off with the Cobras under pressure and a well taken goal for St Agnes pulled one back.
But Adam Webber popped into the box to get his second of the game. Changes were made to freshen things up and this quickly made a difference with sub Kyle Ballard-King scoring the Cobras' fifth.
St Agnes again to their credit battled hard and at no point gave up and were rewarded for their hard work with another well taken goal.
The clock was now running down and another great move from the Cobras led to Matty Collins finding himself 15 yards form goal and he struck the ball with Messi like skill to loop the ball into the net to end the scoring.
