CORNISH landscapes have inspired a former Camborne School visiting artist to create a series of artwork based on the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

Fine artist John Cockshaw from North Yorkshire, whose family live in Troon near Camborne, took these moody and evocative digital pieces utilising Cornish locations.

The artist said: "What I've always wanted to accomplish is art with a mysterious and intriguing pull on the viewer, providing suggestive hints of a wider narrative or mood – a little invitation for the viewer's imagination to enter the work.

"This element has really come to the forefront in the collection of Tolkien inspired work."

“I agree that is art unlike that raft of rocks towed around the coast and which cost £500,000 of Arts Council money.”

“I agree that is art. Unlike that raft of rocks towed around the coast and paid for by £500,000 of arts council money. It seems that art has lost its meaning if anybody with half a brain cell can call that art.”
