Camborne charity CCVS launches mass recruitment drive
A CHARITY which recently made about half of its staff redundant is now looking for more workers to join its ranks.
Cornwall Community Volunteer Services (CCVS) in Camborne is looking to hire about 25 community support workers across the county.
In December the charity started redundancy talks with about 20 staff who work with some of the most vulnerable people in Cornwall.
The redundancies affected people involved in the used furniture scheme called Sofa Project, workers with visually impaired people, car and minibus drivers and people who offer company at Miners Court day centre.

CCVS said all the staff made redundant had been offered a chance to apply for the new positions.
Today Reuben Jenkins, business development manager at CCVS said the charity was desperate to double Carers' Break staff numbers.
He said: "We are looking for community support workers across the county who will be able to provide night and day sitting services, pop-in services where they visit clients for 30 minutes for example in the morning and evening and sleep-in services.
"This is for people who for example come out of hospital and need short-term care before they are able to look after themselves.
"We also provide long-term help for people with long term illnesses who may need help with attending medical appointments or shopping."
Mr Jenkins said CCVS has been for some time declining work due to lack of staff.
The charity promises full training and no experience or qualifications are required.
All the roles are part-time jobs and the hourly rate is about £7.
