Campaign to end hunger is now under way
A group of organisations who hope to bring an end to world hunger staged a noisy gathering to launch a major campaign.
Canon Philip Lambert, canon missioner at Truro Cathedral joined members of charities, faith and community groups outside the cathedral on Saturday where they banged pots and pans to bring attention to the "Enough Food for Everyone If" campaign.

Leading development charities and faith groups in the South West including Christian Aid, Oxfam, Send a Cow, and the Soil Association came together for the launch.
With 100 organisations involved, it is the largest coalition of its kind in the UK since Make Poverty History in 2005.

The group warns hunger and malnutrition in childhood will trap almost a billion young people in poverty by 2025, and will cost the developing world £78 billion over the next 15 years.
The campaign, which was also launched in Bristol, has received widespread backing and support in the region.
The Right Rev Mike Hill, Bishop of Bristol, said: "The fact that 1-in-8 people around the world still go to bed hungry every night even though there is enough food for everyone, is a scandal. The IF campaign offers us an opportunity to use our voice to challenge this statistic and work together to end poverty."
The campaign calls on Prime Minister David Cameron to use the UK's G8 presidency this year to take action on the hunger crisis.

“It would help if supermarkets did not ditch food based on its looks and gave out of date food to charities instead of throwing it away. Most food outside its date is perfectly edible. One particular waste that annoys me is people who order large meals in restaurants and then leave half of it. If they didn'e want so much why order it? The wastage of food in this country is verging on criminal and should be addressed”
