Cancer care unit reopens after refit
A cancer care unit at a Cornwall hospital has reopened after a £400,000 refit. Patients have moved back on to Lowen Ward, part of the Sunrise Centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Ward manager Nicola Beament said: "It will be a brilliant area to work in and nurse patients in an uplifting space. We hope that, too, will make a difference to the care they receive." The ward has undergone a ten-week upgrade, with much of the money spent on a ventilation system vital for patients vulnerable to infection as a result of drugs that suppress their natural immunity.
