Cancer children take to the ice at special pre-season evening
Cornwall's iconic Eden Project welcomed young cancer patients for a special skate on the ice rink, ahead of its official opening.
The group, who enjoyed a tea party in the Eden bakery before taking to the ice, included a mixture of children and young people from three to 24 years of age.
All of them use, or have recently used, the oncology services at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske.
The event on Friday was an opportunity for the young patients, some of whom are still receiving treatment while others are in remission, to meet friends they made during their stay in hospital.

For the families of the patients, the event gave them a chance to meet other people in similar situations and build up support networks.
Consultants, paediatric doctors and CLIC Sargent nurses also joined the children and their families on the ice.
The event was organised by the hospital, Eden and children's charity the Starlight Foundation, which brightens the lives of more than a million poorly children every year in the UK by funding memorable trips and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.
"We help to arrange lots of events and trips for our young patients throughout the year and this is one of their absolute favourite activities." said Deborah Charles, Treliske hospital play specialist. "We're really pleased that the Starlight Foundation and Eden could help to make this lovely day happen again."
Garvey Evans, aged 14 from Foxhole, said: "It's so much fun on the ice and great to be one of the first people to have a go on the new rink."
The rink opened for its tenth year on Saturday and will be in place throughout the winter until Sunday, March 2.
Since 2004, well over half a million people have enjoyed Eden's ice rink, which is situated right in the heart of the project.
This year there is a range of new sessions, including ice discos and rookie skate sessions, along with the return of popular favourites such as toddler ice play and Chilly Penguins, which is full of races and games for older children.
