Car swept by sea at Porthleven harbour
NOT a great place to park - this car was being shunted around the quay at Porthleven this evening as giant waves crashed in.
The vehicle came within feet of the edge of the outer harbour as each huge wave broke during high tide at around 5pm.
A crowd of onlookers had gathered to watch and there were gasps as each great wave spun the car nearer the edge.
One onlooker said: “Each waves just tosses the car about. I’ve seen it spin through 90 degrees already with one wave.

“It’s just unbelievable. We’re not sure if we want it to fall in or not.”
The car’s indicator lights were flashing as the alarm went off but no one would have ventured down onto the quay.
Thankfully, high tide passed before the vehicle was swept completely away.
Porthleven had braced itself again for the gales. Many windows of businesses were boarded up and sandbags were ready in doorways. The coastguards were also stopping people going into Harbour Road.
