Carol service: Girlguiding units gather for celebration
LOCAL Girlguiding units, including Rainbows from Treknow and Camelford, Brownies from Camelford and St Breward, and Guides from Camelford and St Breward, recently met at the Camelford district carol service.
This year it was hosted by the St Breward unit at St Breward Church, with the service led by the Rev Canon Sherry Bryan.

Each unit brought something to the service based on the traditions of Christmas, performing sketches and songs to the delight of the congregation.
Then, with a church full of proud parents and young people, the presentations of shields and qualifications began.
Included in the presentations was a special award for Jill Jeffs, who, as Camelford District's retiring District Commissioner and in her third appointment in this role after serving more than 13 years in total, was presented with Trelawney vouchers in recognition of her hard work and commitment to the district and Girlguiding.
At the end of the service Jill also received a guard of honour at the church entrance from the recently-formed local Ranger unit. The carol service was a very fitting end to what has been the most wonderful centenary year.
