The Illumination Brass Band played Christmas Carols, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Over at Mullion what was described as a huge crowd gathered for the village's switch-on. Gweek Silver Band provided music and The Lizard 2000 group put on a barbecue.

There were also 29 trees entered in the village's Christmas tree festival including a number from local children's groups.

The lights were no less impressive at Gweek where the silver band once again played, and the names of the winners of a poetry competition at nearby Boskenwyn School were announced.
