Cash machine scam discovered
TWO skimming devices have been found on ATM machines in St Ives and Penzance.
Police in West Cornwall have issued a warning following the discovery of the devices - at a bank in St Ives and at Morrison’s petrol station in Long Rock.

Staff at Morrison’s alerted police to the device at their business at around 10am on September 2.
Anyone who has used any cash machines recently should check their bank statements and contact their bank if the discover any discrepancies in their accounts.
Members of the public are also reminded not to reveal their PIN to anyone and to alert staff or police if they notice any unusual people, or strange devices, on or around cash machines.

“Spooks. You won't find the Banks willing to admit their machines have had skimmers attached. There are devices available which stop skimmers from working, but that means investment from the Bank and as such they only tend to protect 'problem' areas (Inner cities etc)”

“There was a similar incident at a Morrisons near Hull. It was a Romanian doing the skimming. Why target Morrisons I wonder?”

“A teensy-weensy criticism of your reportage skills.
Do you not think it might just be ever so slightly helpful if you mentioned which bank it was!!
Those with more than two braincells to rub together would realise that (a) St Ives has more than one ATM and (b) at this time of year the majority of people using them were probably visitors who might not be able to recall specific details of where the ATMs are in St Ives but should have a pretty good idea of which bank they use.”
